Anything But Metric ("the app") is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We keep things simple because we don't collect much.
Information you provide: When you type a query into the app (e.g. "42 lbs" or "the distance to the moon"), that text is sent to our server to generate a conversion. We do not store your queries beyond the time needed to generate a response.
Usage data stored on your device: The app stores the following data locally on your device only, and never transmits it to our servers:
Purchase data: If you purchase the $0.99 upgrade, the transaction is processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
The free version of the app displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect certain device information and identifiers to serve relevant ads. On iOS, you will be asked for permission before any advertising identifier is used for personalized ads. You may decline this permission and ads will still be shown, but they will not be personalized.

Paid users do not see advertisements and are not subject to AdMob data collection.
Queries you submit are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI via our backend server. Queries are not stored by us after processing. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle API requests. We do not associate queries with your identity.
We may log the text of queries that are flagged by our content moderation system or reported by users, solely for the purpose of reviewing and improving moderation. These logs are not linked to any personal identifier.
We do not use third-party analytics tools (such as Firebase, Mixpanel, or similar services). We do not track how you use the app beyond what is described in this policy.
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
All data stored by the app lives on your device. You can delete it at any time by deleting the app. We do not maintain server-side user accounts or profiles, so there is no additional data to request deletion of.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
